Roosevelt presided over great changes in America and the world - changes that would have been impossible without the efforts of one extraordinary man - FDR's friend and advisor, Harry Hopkins. Within four weeks, he had put four million people to work. He went on to help Roosevelt establish numerous federal programs that live on today.

Joseph Kennedy realized that with the Depression, there had been a power shift in the country. Real power would now come from Washington. He joined FDR's campaign, and in the summer of 1934, the president would appoint Kennedy as chairman of the newly formed Security and Exchange Commission, a commission that would police Wall Street and make illegal many of the tactics that Joe himself had used in the past.
