After 16 years of civil war, the citizens of Beirut, Lebanon struggle to rebuild their lives -- a woman, whose husband had been kidnapped forms a committee, together with the families of other kidnap victims, to lobby for the return of the victims; two ex-militia fighters from different sides of the war find themselves working together as house painters, reconstructing the very homes, which they had helped to destroy; a playwright is skeptical...
After 16 years of civil war, the citizens of Beirut, Lebanon struggle to rebuild their lives -- a woman, whose husband had been kidnapped forms a committee, together with the families of other kidnap victims, to lobby for the return of the victims; two ex-militia fighters from different sides of the war find themselves working together as house painters, reconstructing the very homes, which they had helped to destroy; a playwright is skeptical that the building of new modern apartment buildings will give the Lebanese a sense of belonging again. In addition, there are environmental consequences stemming from the waste produced during the war.
