Liaison Committee of Women's International Organisations Archives, 1925-1977

Description: Established under the name Joint Standing Committee of Women's International Organisations in 1925; cooperation of international women's organizations to promote the appointment of women in the bodies of the League of Nations and, in general, the influence of women in international affairs; a second group of national committees joined under the name Liaison Committee of Women's International Organisations in 1931; the two bodies amalgamated in 1934 under the name of the latter organization; headquarters in London with an office in Geneva; after the Second World War divided into territorial groups (New York, Paris, Geneva and Australia); received consultative status at the UN in 1948.
