YWCA of the U.S.A. Records

Description: Social service, women's advocacy, civic improvement, community service, and educational and intercultural exchange organization. The bulk of the materials date from 1906 to 1970 and focus on the administration of the National Association, its programs and publications, and its relations with its member YWCAs all over the country. Major topics include: employed women, particularly those in industry, interracial relations in the U.S., religion, work with immigrant women, development of girls, and of a youth movement, health and sex education for women, international relations, international work, philanthropy, housing, women in rural America, effective administration of organizations, group work, social work, women's war work, citizenship training, leadership training, and college women. This collection is organized into ten record groups.
