Report Presented by the CIM to the UN about the Participation of Women in Public Life, Thirteenth Assembly
This report to the United Nations was based on the topic of the thirteenth assembly of the Inter-American Commission of Women (Comisión Interamericana de Mujeres (CIM)). The focus of the thirteenth conference was women’s civil and political rights in the Americas. All the documents from this conference focus on various aspects of this topic from women’s suffrage to women’s education.
As a report to the UN, this document outlines factors affecting the participation of women in public life. These factors included educational, economic, social, and legal issues that blocked women’s civic participation. The CIM provided solutions to improve women’s participation as citizens and argued the importance of equal and inalienable rights for all members of the human race. The CIM’s goal was to raise the standard of living and so contribute to a better life of liberty, justice, and peace.
