He makes the startling announcement that the United States has developed a Jet high-altitude interceptor that puts the famed U-2 in the category of a limping commuter train.

Now her hand and footprints are in the sidewalk in front of the famous theatre.

U. S. "WHITE PAPER" DETAILS RED AGGRESSION
The United States issues a White Paper indicating North Vietnam for aggression in Southeast Asia. Government presses worked around the clock to print copies for delivery to United Nations representatives and to nations around the world. Among other things it accuses Communist China of smuggling arms into South Vietnam. Just one day before the White Paper was issued, a heavily camouflaged gunboat was sunk on the coast northeast of Saigon. Troops found eighty tons of Chinese arms hidden in the jungle near the sinking.
EXPLOSION SHATTERS MONTREAL BUILDING
A massive breakfast-time explosion levels a Montreal apartment house - an explosion of such force that windows were shattered for miles around. Scores were killed outright, fifty seriously injured and many are missing. Survivors say they smelled gas just before the blast.
POPE ELEVATES NEW CARDINALS
There are solemn rites in St. Peter's as twenty-six prelates are elevated to Cardinals. The ceremonies are now simple and traditional rites have been discarded. Three prelates from Sommunist countries were elevated, as well as one from the U. S. and one from South America.
CELTICS WIN BASKETBALL CROWN
Ho-hum, it's the Boston Celtics again. For the ninth straight year the New England boys take the Eastern Division of the National Basketball Association. They wallop the San Francisco Warriors, 130 to 112 and wind up 14 games in front of the second place team.

U.S. attack carrier Coral Sea is welcomed home in San Francisco after 109 days of war in Vietnam. Five thousand loved ones greet the happy crew. Fifteen pilots do not return. The carrier launched 83 hundred combat sorties against North Vietnam.
LBJ SIGNS
President Johnson signs into law, the 25th constitution amendment which assures continuity in the executive branch in case of disabled President or Vice-Presidential vacancy. Sixteen times in history, the U.S. has been without a Vice-President.
QUAKER MISSION
Seven American pacifists sail out of Japan aboard the yacht "Phoenix," bound for the North Vietnamese part of Haiphong. Despite Red Cross warnings and without State Department clearance, the Quaker-sponsored group intends to bring medical supplies.

The First International Paper Airplane contest draws II thousand entries from all over the world. Four divisions of competition: duration aloft, distance flown, aerobatic, and origami, the Japanese art of paper folding. It's a fantastic "fly-off!"

QUEBEC, P.Q., Canada -- With his powerful team of cross-breeds of Malamutes and Russian wolf-hounds straining every muscle, the Canadian Olympic champion completes the gruelling 41-mile "mush" with a new course record, winning by a narrow margin of two minutes from Shorty Russick, famous 50-year-old Western driver. Although Russick breaks three marks during the terrific race over the snow-covered trails, St. Goddard finishes with a total elapsed time of 10 hours, 28 minutes for the three laps, eclipsing the best efforts of Russick, Seppala, Girard and a host of other crack dog-sled drivers, annexing a spectacular victory in the "mush" classic of the continent.
