The names of his teachers and the artists and orchestras with which he worked belong to the select few of their field in the classic scene. Previn was born in 1929 in Berlin and emigrated to the United States in 1938 where his family settled in Hollywood. He was awarded the Oscar a total of four times. Along with his work as a director he has also composed orchestra and chamber music as well as two stage entertainments. He however doesn’t consider himself as belonging to the musical avant-garde.

The dramatization of a severe professional and personal crisis in the life of Anton Bruckner, who has to make the most important decision he will ever make whether to stay in his hometown of Linz as a teacher and organist or go to Vienna to work as a composer. This period of soul-searching makes his later symphonies all the more powerful. At the age of 43, Anton Bruckner still has not yet developed his full musical genius. Although everything inside him is striving towards music he finds one excuse after another to turn away from his vocation. Having completed every imaginable course of study in music, he is now confronted with the decision of his life: should he go to Vienna and complete his work as a composer, or should he remain in his hometown of Linz as a teacher and organist? Director Jan Schmidt-Garre's work is, like much of Bruckner's music, poetic and beautiful, with a sense of timelessness.

The film traces the development of an exceptional musical talent from childhood to the beginnings of maturity. Our subject is Karim Said, whom we followed from the age of 11 to the age of 18 in six different countries. Karim Said was born in Amman where he studied percussion with his father and the piano with Agnes Victorovna (alumna of the Gnessin School, Moscow). He has been applauded by established musicians and juries in several countries and already won nine international prizes. His distinguishing characteristics are his naturalness, both in his music and in his personality, his humour, his intelligence and a total lack of pretence but, above and beyond these things, it is the way in which his music gets through to his audiences and touches people, that sets him apart.

NYMAN IN PROGRESS is a film about a very special moment in the famous composer's artistic life. Until now, Michael Nyman’s fine reputation has rested on music. Composing with innovative minimalism for films as memorable as The Draughtsman’s Contract, The Ogre, Man on Wire, and most famously for Campion´s The Piano, he has reached an international audience. But now, Michael Nyman is about to become a filmmaker himself. Featuring unprecedented access to the composer and his working life, this film shows one of the great composers of our time in all his diversity and endless energy. From London to Berlin, from Mexico to Poland this film is also a journey through today’s musical world. It shows Michael Nyman, the musician, in his concerts with the Michael Nyman Band and live collaborations with other internationally known musicians or orchestras. But throughout his journeys, this film discovers Nymans increasing passion for filming and photography. Witnessing the development of Nyman´s visual works from the very moment of inspiration right through to his editing of the footage and the combination of the visuals with his music, this film gives a unique insight into Michael Nyman´s very personal views, his thoughts and emotions, his world.

In early 2011 The UK's Daily Telegraph newspaper claimed, "The Classical Guitar has a new hero". That man is thirty-year-old Miloš Karadaglic from Montenegro. "I want to wake this instrument from hibernation", he says. From growing up in war-torn Yugoslavia, discovering a battered guitar in his parents' bedroom, Heartstrings tells the story of his love affair with the guitar, taking it to concert halls around the world and restoring it to its rightful place in the pantheon of classical music. The documentary was filmed throughout 2012, the breakthrough year on the concert stage for Miloš with sold-out debut performances and tours around the word, and charts the guitarist's story to date.
