When the Duke and Duchess of Windsor arrived in Florida on 18th April, 1941, they were looking forward three days of relaxation. But unbeknown to them, the night before their ship docked, President Roosevelt had instructed an extraordinary covert intelligence exercise. Recently released under the US freedom of information act, his report, running to 227 pages, reveals that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor harboured pro-Nazi sympathies and that Edward was lined up to go back to the throne as a Nazi puppet if Hitler defeated Britain. And it's not just this FBI report that is so damning. Recently, a number of key documents have been released, as well as the sensational diaries of Sir Alan Lascelles, the Duke's private secretary. Together these prove that Edward VIII was indeed a traitor to his country and that his sympathies lay squarely with Hitler's regime. Now, for the first time is the full, inside story; a tale of treachery, corruption and depravity at the heart of the British monarchy - and one which could have changed the course of history.

Now Kim says that he has nuclear weapons - and that he's prepared to sell them to whoever will pay his price. George Bush put North Korea on the 'Axis of Evil' shortlist, but is Kim really plotting to destroy the planet or is the nickname 'Dr Evil' indicative of nothing more than a battle of words in the Cold War's last frontier? Correspondent charts Kim's progress from lazy student through terrorist mastermind to tough-talking nuclear brinksman.

In 1485, on the field at Bosworth, Henry’s father, Henry Tudor, seized the crown from the defeated Yorkist king Richard III. To us, this event marks the end of the Wars of the Roses, but to contemporaries it was not clear that this bitter dynastic struggle was truly over. Henry, Tudor’s second son, was created Duke of York to link the royal house to the defeated faction. But Henry had a rival in the shape of Perkin Warbeck, who claimed to be the real Duke of York and rightful king. Henry Tudor would have to defend his throne twice in battle, and his son’s life depended on the outcome. This episode will follow the dramatic events of Henry’s childhood, events that shaped his personality and his attitude to kingship. The death of his brother Arthur made Henry Prince of Wales, and his father’s heir and rival. The episode will conclude with Henry’s accession, his hasty marriage to his brother’s widow, Katherine of Aragon, and their joint coronation.

Henry’s father had won and defended the crown in battle, to Henry the mark of true regal legitimacy. He was determined to emulate his father and win even greater glory. But to wage the war Henry desired meant emerging from the councillors he had inherited from his father to be his own man. This episode traces Henry’s quest to become a major player in Europe, his successes at the Battle of the Spurs and the Field of the Cloth of Gold, and his eventual humiliation after the Battle of Pavia. Throughout these years his relationship with the brilliant, Machiavellian Thomas Wolsey was central to his reign. But even Wolsey could not disguise the relative impotence of England and her monarchy when compared to the great European powers. By 1525 Henry was having a classic mid-life crisis, with the all too familiar desire to replace his ageing spouse with a younger model. But Henry’s infatuation with Anne Boleyn would change the face of England and alter European power politics for centuries to come.
