Since ex-V.P. Henry Wallace desires to become Sec. of Commerce in F.D.R.'s new cabinet, the incumbent, Jesse Jones, is forced to resign.
The latter appears at hearings before the Senate Commerce Committee which is considering the George resolution to divorce the R.F.C. agencies from Dept. jurisdiction.
Mr. Jones outlines the qualifications and background which he deems essential in one who aspires to head the lending agencies which deal in billions. Mr. Wallace appears in defence of the present arrangement, and states that he would make loans available for the small borrower as well as the large.

BATON ROUGE, LA.--An eyewitness to the death of Huey Long gives a vivid word-picture of the shooting and the death of Carl Weiss, the assassin, under the guns of the "dictator's" bodyguard. Meanwhile the murderer, who was mowed down by sixty-one slugs, has an immediate burial.
SLUM RAZING IS PUSHED
DETROIT, MICH.--The eradication of ancient, disease-ridden slums by government works drives gains added impetus in Detroit with Mrs. Roosevelt assisting in the ceremonies as the first house is demolished. Model homes will replace the old structures.

OFF ASBURY PARK, N. J.--Survivors of the holocaust when the Morro Castle burned at sea, mark the first anniversary of the disaster with ceremonies at the scene, eight miles off the coast. Wreaths thrown upon the waters are solemn tribute to the 137 victims.
