A powerful documentary revealing the appalling violence meted out to the defeated in 1945. Using rare and unseen archive film, 1945: The Savage Peace tells a harrowing story of vengeance against German civilians, which mirrored some of the worst cruelty of the Nazi occupiers during the years of war. It includes the unique testimony of eyewitnesses and victims, who recall the horrors with searing clarity, their memories undimmed 70 years after the events took place. This a story that has, until now, not been told, amidst the justified celebration of an end to an unspeakable tyranny. It offers a moving and vivid picture of Europe in ruins.

When the Duke and Duchess of Windsor arrived in Florida on 18th April, 1941, they were looking forward three days of relaxation. But unbeknown to them, the night before their ship docked, President Roosevelt had instructed an extraordinary covert intelligence exercise. Recently released under the US freedom of information act, his report, running to 227 pages, reveals that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor harboured pro-Nazi sympathies and that Edward was lined up to go back to the throne as a Nazi puppet if Hitler defeated Britain. And it's not just this FBI report that is so damning. Recently, a number of key documents have been released, as well as the sensational diaries of Sir Alan Lascelles, the Duke's private secretary. Together these prove that Edward VIII was indeed a traitor to his country and that his sympathies lay squarely with Hitler's regime. Now, for the first time is the full, inside story; a tale of treachery, corruption and depravity at the heart of the British monarchy - and one which could have changed the course of history.

The transformation of China into a global superpower raises some of the most challenging questions of our time – and this revealing series seeks out the answers. Will this turn out to be China’s century or will the Red Dragon crash and burn? Niall Ferguson travels through this vast country to find out how a fifth of humanity can live under a Communist system of government with a capitalist economy when, according to all the laws of history, it should fall apart. Held together for more than 2000 years, firstly by imperial rule and now by an imperious Communist Party, what does China stand for? Ferguson talks to the people who know – including its new billionaires, survivors of Chairman Mao’s regime, ardent young nationalists and those defending China’s rural poor.

Now Kim says that he has nuclear weapons - and that he's prepared to sell them to whoever will pay his price. George Bush put North Korea on the 'Axis of Evil' shortlist, but is Kim really plotting to destroy the planet or is the nickname 'Dr Evil' indicative of nothing more than a battle of words in the Cold War's last frontier? Correspondent charts Kim's progress from lazy student through terrorist mastermind to tough-talking nuclear brinksman.
