There was also an assassination attempt on British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher as she attended a conference in Brighton. In India, a pesticide factory owned by Union Carbide released poisonous gases, killing 20,000 in total; on the flipside, Live Aid was organized to try to raise money to end famine and death in Ethiopia.
