In December 1941, when the Pacific War broke out, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, and the United States, which was reluctant to directly participate in the war, joined the war. Just a few hours later, Hong Kong, a British colony at the time, was also attacked by the Japanese army. The attack lasted 18 days.
