A PREVIEW TO INVASION
With every American tensely waiting every bit of information on the invasion battles in France, we deem it our public duty to present a pictorial record of how the invasion looked when rehearsed in various training areas abroad.
Supreme Commander Gen. Dwight Eisenhower's historic invasion message is heard as the landing barges plunge through the waves, with swarms of protective planes overhead. Battleships roar. Thousands of commando parachutists float to earth.
We see the Nazi practicing their defense. Huge guns are manned and their machine guns spit their staccato messages of death. Our barges land. Our troops leap ashore, back their way through the barbed wire, and all participants are fit and ready for the actual invasion of Nazi Europe.
AMERICA RECEIVES THE NEWS
Electric signs in New York City and Philadelphia carry the news of the landings in France to millions of city dwellers. The newsrooms of the giant radio networks turn into bee hives. The churches of the nation are jammed with devout parishioners, who are praying from the depth of their hearts for their loved ones in the services. And Gen. George Marshall and Gen. Hap Arnold enter the electrified atmosphere of the White House.
KING AND THE GRAND FLEET
King George VI inspects units of the Grand Fleet which is massed for important duties.
FIRE AND RUINS IN BERLIN

DESTRUCTION OF THE LUFTWAFFE
Miraculous pictures of Nazi planes getting blown to bits (in the sky and on the ground), and of other feats of marksmanship by fleets of Allied airmen.
BEAUTIES REAP FLAX
KARNES COUNTY, TEXAS -- Patriotic girls, enlisted in the "Harvest Brigade," operate self-propelled harvesters in local flax fields. The brigade will cut huge swaths through the grain fields, all the way to Canada.
SUDS FOR G.I'S.
The British sailors have their grog--now the G.I. Joes in Italy get their American beer from a Naples brewery. It's a stirring sight to see the boys go for the stuff--they even rise from the earth to get a snootful.

FIRST PICTURES INVASION OF FRANCE
(The greatest co-ordination of arms ever portrayed on any motion picture screen in the world. Every scene made during the greatest victory of Allied power, to date.)
11,000 Allied planes plant their tons of pulverizing bombs on shore installations, strategic roads and bridges--then swoop down to strafe enemy trains, ships and planes
In England, the daredevil paratroopers sail away to their designations and the air-borne troops follow in their gliders. 4,000 ships set sail for the Cherbourg peninsula. The guns of the invasion navy roar into action. Assault boats bounce through the heavy sea . . . shore is reached and the intricate Nazi defences are penetrated.
Nazi prisoners are rounded up, and the many Allied and Nazi wounded are treated and returned to England. Allied heavy equipment rumbles by and the French natives welcome their liberators. Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower visits the scene and is welcomed by Generals Montgomery and Bradley.
The air poundings continue, and the mop-up search for snipers is on. The invasion is successful.

THE CAPTURE OF ST. LO
After 40 days of continuous fighting the Yanks mount a huge offensive which is aimed at St. Lo, Nazi stronghold. They cautiously proceed through the tricky terrain, bringing their machine guns, bazookas and mortars into murderous action.
Soon, Nazis appear waving white flags. The Yanks file onward past anti-personnel mines, and are on continuous alert for snipers. Shattering artillery and air barrages have prepared the way for them as they enter battered St. Lo. Snipers are hunted out and the victory is made secure.
So secure is it, that an "Out of Bound" refugee camp is set up, where in short order, French children are observed at play.

THE YANKS STORM GUAM
A tremendous task force approaches hilly Guam, in the accepted pattern of U.S. invasion of territory held by the Japs. Terrific gun fire and air bombs shatter many of the Jap shore positions--then the "amtracs" (new amphibious craft) swim out from the ramps of huge L.C.I.'s and the shores of this Jap-held American island are approached.
A few of the little craft are set on fire as Jap hits are registered, but the remainder get in. The Yanks leap ashore--Universal's intrepid cameraman, Irving Smith, right in their midst. A quick reconnaissance reveals that Jap battle stations have been razed, just as they were at Tarawa and Kwajalein. The landing is successful and the battle to secure the entire island is (illegible text).

As jeeps screech along, one G.I. digs himself a luxury fox hole. And on finishing an inspection tour of the liberated territory, Winston Churchill boards a Naval cutter, waving goodbye to twirling his topper his topper on a cane.

U. S. 3RD FLEET BLASTS JAPAN
THE AIR STRIKE
Springing from decks of carriers in Task Force 38 a thousand dive bombers, torpedo planes and fighters add to Tokio's destruction, further cripples Japan's dwindling air forces, and ravages her industrial plants and transportation system. Bombs, rockets and heavy strafing create utter destruction and start terrific fires.
THE FLEET STRIKES
While steaming in battle formation a mere 3,000 yards off the Jap mainland, the giant 14in. and 16in. guns of Admiral Halsey's dreadnoughts open fire on Japanese steel plants and other industrial sites. They continue their heavy bombardment without a shot being returned from shore, nor does a single member of the Jap Imperial Fleet come out to do battle.
FROM ITALY TO PACIFIC
Over 4,000 G.I.'s, veterans of the Italian and African campaigns, are re-deployed directly to the Philippines.

JAPAN SURRENDERS
Japan goes down to crushing defeat, her dream of Empire and of world conquest completely shattered to bits.
America, her fleet badly crippled at Pearl Harbor, quickly geared her efforts to wage a war of offence in Europe, and a defensive leap-frog campaign in the vast Pacific.
Brilliant sea victories at Coral Sea and Bismarck Sea stalled the "Tokio Express" headed for a conquest of Australia. The victory at Midway saved Hawaii and other U. S. defence zones. After Bataan, a succession of island victories begins--Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Tarawa, Kwajalein, Saipan, Guam, the Philippines, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Spectacular Kamikaze suicide defences are futile.
Allied air fleets, co-ordinating with the other two military arms, begin strategic bombing of the Jap homeland, which starts the Japs reeling. Allied naval fleets boldly steam off Japan's coastline; their carrier planes and naval guns create utter ruin and destruction.
From the Potsdam Conference, Japan is told to surrender, or else. The "or else" proves to be America's prize secret weapon--the Atomic Bomb which levels war plant areas and kills thousands. Russia declares war and invades Manchuria. The combination of events proves too much for the enemy. Japan sues for peace.
