(151)
NEW YORK, N. Y. -- After an epochal rescue by the motorship Belmoira, Fernando de Costa, Willy Rody and Christian Johanssen are transferred to the Norwegian liner Stavangerfjord which carries them here--the unachieved goal of their flight from Lisbon. Exclusive pictures at sea chronicle this event. Brought to this city by steamship, the German aces and their Portuguese companion are heartily welcomed. Only de Costa shows effects of the mis-adventure. Suffering from injuries received in the crash of the Junkers monoplane, and from the effects of starvation he is carried ashore, there to await quick recovery from his hurts.

TORBAGY, Hungary -- The Budapest-Vienna express is wrecked when an explosion, attributed to anti-capitalists, blows up a viaduct, derailing the crack flier. Hampered by wreckage, rescue workers experience difficulty saving the injured and extricating the bodies of the dead in six of the cars that were hurled into a deep ravine. Three other coaches hang over the snapped structure of the bridge and three remain on the tracks. Notes found on the device that caused the disaster credit the outrage to radical propagandists.

TIPTON, Ia. -- Belligerent farmers, refusing to submit their cattle to tuberculin examinations, bring on an invasion of Cedar County by 1,500 troops to enforce the order. Ranchers, who have successfully withstood the advances of deputy sheriffs, watch the militia surround pastures, set up machine guns, and encourage veterinarians to perform their duty. Soldiers, equipped for battle, patrol the highways, as an outbreak is narrowly averted.

DAYLIGHT SAVING IN DISCARD AS AUTUMN BRINGS SHORTER DAYS
(117)
NEW YORK, N. Y. -- Half the city is caught unawares and the rest do not care, as the clocks go back and everybody gets the hour returned that was loaned out last spring. Guides such the Metropolitan Tower, the Colgate dial and other famous time-pieces check up hundreds who pay little attention to such things, and who find themselves at engagements and business, sixty minutes ahead of schedule.
BORDER PATROL NABS VICIOUS SMUGGLERS IN SURPRISE ATTACK SPECIAL
