WASHINGTON, D. C.--The Navy Relief Society is $5,000,000. better off as Clarence Dillon, Chairman of The Citizen's National Committee, hands Secretary Knox a check for that amount.
ADMIRAL NIMITZ DECORATED
WASHINGTON, D. C.--In recognition of meritorious service in connection with his Coral Sea and Marshall Island victories, Admiral Chester Nimitz receives the Distinguished Service Medal from Admiral King. Fellow officers also congratulate the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet on his historic exploits.
LIDICE REBORN IN ILLINOIS
LIDICE, ILL.--Stern Park Gardens, a small housing project near Joliet, Ill., is rechristened Lidice, in honor of the small Czech village that was razed by Nazi brutality in revenge for the death of hangman Heydrich. Wendell Willkie tells 35,000 the new Lidice is a world symbol of free men.
