From a small fishing village to a metropolis, Hong Kong's real estate industry has become an important pillar of the Hong Kong economy. The century-long ebb and flow of the real estate market has created great wealth for the city, but it has also become a heavy burden for many people. From the very early land system of "rent only", the public housing policy ignited by several fires in the 1950s, the rise of Chinese property developers after the 1967 riots, to the land and housing plans formulated by several leaders after the handover, Hong Kong's property market has had its ups and downs, but it has always been moving in the direction of people living in peace and contentment. This documentary will tell the history of Hong Kong's real estate industry from the early days, and explore how Hong Kong has created a "real estate legend" step by step.

Mr Mamozai's Driving School is the first driving school in Kabul to teach both men and women how to drive. And probably the only driving school for women in the world that is run by men who don't really think women should drive at all. But then the driving instructors at Mr Mamozai's are all ex-Taliban, so clearly this is no ordinary driving school. The programme provides a revealing look at how life has in some ways radically changed for women in Afghanistan since the collapse of the Taliban, but in other ways, remains difficult. At times hilarious, and shocking, this documentary charts the women's struggle in a male-dominated world, but also puts a human face on a country often in the news.

Independent since 1960, Somalia has seen virtually constant political upheaval. Chaos still reigns in the capital, Mogadishu, and throughout Somalia. Some eighty percent of the nation is under the power of guerrillas and local warlords. Taking advantage of the chaos, Islamic fundamentalist groups such as al Qaeda frequently infiltrate. Suspected to be the main financial source for al Qaeda, all assets in the al Barakaat bank, the country’s main bank, were frozen and remittances from workers abroad to their families at home were stopped, which aggravated the confusion and deepened poverty in the nation. Finally, Somalia has become a target in the post-Afghanistan "war" against terrorism. College Adult

An extremely powerful film showing the terrible risks that Africans will take to get to The Promised Land. Juan Medina, an Argentine photographer, arrived in Spain twenty years ago. Medina was looking for a better life and decided to settle in Fuerteventura, attracted by a tourist slogan portraying it as 'The Tranquil Isle.' He could not have guessed then that he would be an eye witness to the tragic exodus of Africans to Europe. Over the last ten years, 32,000 Africans have landed on the coast of the Canary Islands in makeshift boats. Many have died in the attempt, drowned in the 100 or so kilometers of seas separating the islands from the African mainland. One night in November 2004, Juan was on board a Spanish police patrol vessel. A drifting craft was spotted full of immigrants. But the makeshift boat capsized: 11 people drowned and 29 were rescued.

A very good study about the pirate fishing of toothfish and its impact on the fishing industry and the environment; it provides a very broad picture of the industry and related environmental issues by combining interviews with world experts on the fish, South African observers, a Greenpeace team, conservation experts and Maritime legal experts.' -EMRO Review
This eye-opening documentary illustrates the difficulties in controlling international fishing, as world fish stocks show signs of depletion. The Patagonia toothfish is becoming so valuable it is known as 'White Gold' and has caused an explosion in fishing. The value of this oily, white fish lies in its desirability as a delicacy in restaurants throughout the East and the United States; it is four times the price of regular white fish. This explains why people take the risk of fishing for it illegally. South Africa is one of the countries trying to end unlawful fishing in their waters, but it is 'like looking for a needle in a haystack.' Environmental groups are concerned that over-fishing will place the toothfish at risk of extinction.

Serb general Ratko Mladic knew that there would not be any NATO airstrikes when, in July 1995, his troops launched the attack on the Srebrenica enclave - which was protected by Dutch UN soldiers - and killed over eight thousand people. Six weeks earlier, the Clinton administration had decided not to carry out any further airstrikes on Serb targets 'for the time being'. Washington made that decision 'in silence'. The Dutch government at that time was left completely in the dark. On 28 May 1995 the Clinton administration decided to suspend the airstrikes against the Serbs. This decision was made after consultation by phone with the French President Chirac and the British Prime Minister Major. They urged the President of the United States to stop the airstrikes after hundreds of UN soldiers had been taken hostage. The Serbs had chained the blue helmets to strategic locations to avoid NATO bombings. The documentary will show, based on internal documents, that the Clinton administration made its decision 'in silence': ‘ …make no public statement to that effect’ was the advice the President was given the next day.
