She was one of the finest performing musicians that England has ever produced and she touched people as few have ever done but she stopped playing in 1973 at the age of 28 and died in 1987 at the age of 42. She should have celebrated her sixtieth birthday on the 26th of January 2005 and this television film was made to mark that event. It consists largely of previously unseen material from our archives but also includes the unforgettable last five minutes of the Elgar cello concerto in what has become the best remembered performance of the work ever given.
