The phenomenally talented musician gives more than 100 critically acclaimed performances a year and has commissioned over 100 works for solo percussion. Evelyn Glennie regularly collaborates with leading musicians working in various musical styles and has recorded 20 albums, two of which have won Grammy Awards. In this documentary, recorded live at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg in 2004, she presents some of her greatest hits in a show of thrilling music and light design, playing snare drum, marimba and vibraphone. The film portrays this exceptional artist in all its diversity, shows rare archive footage of his great performances as an opera singer but also as an interpreter of traditional spirituals and operetta. Another important element of the film are interviews with his widow Nora London, with former colleagues, experts and current stars of the opera scene as Neil Shicoff, Catherine Malfitano and Deborah Polaski, who have been taught by George London, supported in their career by the George London Foundation or see themselves as his followers.

The documentary provides insight into processes that are usually veiled: the recording of an album in a league of its own: the preparation of the musicians, the recording in the Philharmonie Berlin, the battle for the perfect sound, the mixing and balancing units during the audio post-production. It is the striking distance to the artists that makes the film an intimate experience. Lang Lang, Sir Simon Rattle, and the musicians of the Berliner Philharmoniker, but of course the audio engineers as well are taking the centre stage. The musical pieces to be recorded are Béla Bartók's Piano Concert No. 2 and Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3.
