Daniel Viglietti wrote on the jacket of his first recording that he grew up listening to all the songs of Antonio Tormo played on his uncle’s record player. That has been true for almost three generations of South Americans who know by heart most of Tormo’s songs. Actually, most of the songs that Antonio Tormo sings are not his, but perhaps his way of singing them, maybe the careful selection of this recorded repertoire, has made people indentify the songs with him. Many other songs were not known before Tormo recorded them and almost all of them became "hits" in his interpretation.
