One day, twenty three years ago, Otto Cragg, ran away after picking a basket of plums from the plum tree and never returned. The play begins on the day that a man claiming to be the Craggs' missing son, all grown up, returns, forcing the Craggs to reckon with grief, belief, hope and change.
