17 DIE, 24 HURT IN CRASH AS BUS PLUNGES OVER BRIDGE
OSSINING, N.Y. -- Getting out of control as it sped down a steep hill, a bus carrying scores of excursionists to a baseball game at Sing Sing Prison plunged off a railroad ramp to a lumber yard below. Bursting into flames, the obsolete vehicle became a funeral pyre for many who were trapped, the fire destroying $150,000-worth of lumber before it was brought under control.
