WikiLeaks boss Julian Assange's ongoing expose of US foreign policy would not have been possible without the work of Private Bradley Manning, who is alleged to have handed over hundreds of thousands of secret US war files and diplomatic cables. Reporter Quentin McDermott tells the inside story of Bradley Manning and his daring intelligence heist.
Second only to Julian Assange, Bradley Manning is the most important figure in the WikiLeaks controversy. But, while all eyes are on Assange, Manning is wasting away in solitary confinement. David House is one of the few civilians allowed to visit him. He describes the young soldier's mental deterioration and his struggle to deal with long hours of confinement, "...the US Government is just trying to put immense pressure on him in order to get him to crack open."
The film includes interviews with Julian Assange, former military analyst Daniel Ellsberg, former WikiLeaks spokesperson Daniel Dmosceit-Berf, Manning supporter David House, hacker Adrian Lamo, and New York Times Washington Bureau Chief Dean Baquet.

During the turbulent times of the Great Depression and World War II, Franklin D. Roosevelt presided over great changes in America and the world - changes that would have been impossible without the efforts of one extraordinary man - FDR's friend and advisor, Harry Hopkins. The son of a harness maker from Iowa, and for 20 years a social worker in New York, Hopkins was invited by Roosevelt to head the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the Great Depression. Within four weeks, he had put four million people to work. He went on to help Roosevelt establish numerous federal programs that live on today. Despite failing health, he made his greatest impact during World War II. He was Roosevelt's personal envoy to Winston Churchill, executing the Lend-Lease program and helping the country mobilize for war. His unique relationship to Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin contributed to forging agreements at Teheran and Yalta. This award-winning film shows how one man's unshakable belief in America and in public service was so vital to his country. It is also a tale of grand adventure, of dangerous wartime missions executed at great risk. College Adult

Why do so many Muslims hate the United States? What has America done to alienate so many people in the Muslim world? Imran Khan, a Pakistani celebrity cricket player turned politician, tries to answer these questions in this provocative documentary filmed in locations throughout Pakistan. He examines the political, social and economic causes of the schism between the Islamic world and the West. The film takes us to Islamabad's Women's College, where the students are mainly from privileged, middle class backgrounds. But even here, the underlying feeling is that the United States only cares or acts when its own people are at risk and that many American policies are determined on racial grounds against "black or brown people". In Peshawar, anti-war demonstrators believe that the war on Afghanistan following September 11th, was not justified because the West did not provide proof of the Taliban's culpability. In this part of the world, the spectre of the IMF looms large. Khan notes that as the services provided by the Pakistani government diminish under the pressure of its debts, the vacuum created has been filled by others. The poor turn to religious schools, often breeding grounds for a more intolerant version of Islam. Unsurprisingly, their influence is strongest where poverty is most pronounced. This fascinating and highly resonant report goes a long way towards explaining the problematic nature of the relationship between Islam and the West. It is a schism that developed long before the bombing of Afghanistan, and is likely to take even longer to heal. College Adult

Electoral Dysfunction, an acclaimed feature-length documentary, uses humor and wit to take an irreverent—but nonpartisan—look at voting in America. Mo Rocca takes a quest that leads him to Indiana, home to some of the strictest voting laws in the nation. Two impassioned Hoosiers—one Republican and one Democrat—take him inside their efforts to turn out every vote. As he progresses on his journey, he investigates the heated battle over voter ID and voter fraud, explores the origins and impact of the electoral college, critiques ballot design, and examines the case of a former felon sentenced to 10 years in prison—for the crime of voting. Animated segments bring key historical concepts to life, while interviews with reformers and experts highlight efforts to bring greater fairness and uniformity to America’s electoral system. Electoral Dysfunction is a film for voters across the political spectrum who want their votes to count.
