The Spirit of Olympia, bringing to mind the international athletic games to be held this year, proves to be one of the most interesting floats, but to the city of San Marino goes the distinction of the most beautiful entry. An Australian lyre bird made from sweet peas and China lilies wins the grand sweepstakes award.

Living up to their reputation as a powerful team on the offensive, Southern California drives the Green Wave to a 21-12 defeat. But the Greenies fight to the last ditch. In the final quarter Don Zimmerman finally gets his overhead game going on all cylinders and drops a pass into Jerry Dalrymple's hands for a score and follows it closely with another touchdown over a similar route. But the Southern gentlemen start too late, and the mythical national championship goes to the West Coast eleven.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Followed by a host of idle, 10,000 strong, the Rev. James R. Cox, of Pittsburgh, presents the demands of the "hunger caravan" to the Federal Government. After a tedious rain-soaked trek from Pennsylvania, wet but not discouraged, they stand behind their religious leader and urge the solons to action. A $5,000,000,000 bond issue to carry on government building works is asked for jobless relief.
