B-29s HOP FROM JAPAN TO U.S.A.
Three giant B-29s, after taking off from Hokkaido and flying a Great Circle route over the Arctic, encounter heavy head winds which exhausts their gasoline supply. Landing at Chicago their non-stop 5,996 mile flight only required 25 3/4 hours.
Quickly refueling there, they wing their way to Washington where General Hap Arnold greets the record-seeking airmen. Gen. Giles, Gen. LeMay and Gen. O'Donnell, plane leaders in the epic flight, played leading roles in the aerial destruction of Japan.
PRES. ERIC JOHNSTON SPEAKS
Eric Johnston succeeds Will Hays as President of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America. Mr. Johnston outlines a five point program in which he foresees the motion picture industry "building new pathways to world peace and prosperity."
PATTERSON NOMINATED
President Truman nominates Under-Secretary of War Robert Patterson to the cabinet post of Secretary of War.
CHINESE CELEBRATE
N.Y.C.--In a heavy downpour 12,000 Chinese residents stage a giant Victory Parade down Fifth Avenue, on the 14th anniversary of Japan's invasion of Manchuria. Notables including Gen. Claire Chennault and "Mayor" Shavey Lee join 40,000 spectators in reviewing the oriental spectacle.
SEN. BURTON NAMED
U. S. Senator Harold Burton, Republican from Ohio, has been nominated to the Supreme Court by President Truman.

SANTA MONICA, CAL.--A new navy Douglas dive bomber which can hit 300 miles per hour plus, has as its unique feature a set of air brakes that can slow the plane down to landing speed in a matter of seconds.
SHIP SALVAGE
Britain is confronted with two-fold postwar task. The sunken hulks of war must be cleared from channel, harbor and dock areas. Ships that can be reconditioned and used, must be raised to bolster a badly depleted merchant fleet.
NAVY GRAVEYARD
KIEL--This harbor, once the lair of the Nazi fleet, is now the graveyard of ships and hopes. The bleaching bones of the once proud high seas fleet, testifies to the accuracy of Allied bombing.
DAFFY MILLINERY
MIAMI--If you're shy a potato masher, sink strainer or other kitchen gadget, you might find it on the beautiful noggin of one of the gals who show the latest in tin chapeaus down this way.
FUN IN THE SUN
