Situated between tango, jazz and contemporary, the bandoneonist Louise Jallu is a young prodigy nominated for the 2021 Victoires du Jazz award. Here, she revisits the music of Astor Piazzolla with her own power and personality, taking on a composer and master of the Argentine bandoneon who was born a hundred years ago. Louise Jallu draws from the well of deep tradition in order to source new musical offshoots. She is surrounded by a stellar quartet composed of Mathias Lévy, an erudite violinist and winner of prizes in violin chamber music and music theory who was first trained in classical music and then in gypsy jazz. Alongside them are pianist Marc Benham, double bass player Alexandre Perrot, trumpeter Médéric Collignon and guest pianist Gustavo Beytelmann.

Carlos Montoya has a legendary name in flamenco: his uncle Ramon was regarded as the foremost flamenco guitarist of his generation. Yet this namesake was a handicap early in the younger Montoya's career, one which he adroitly overcame. Performing "real" Andalusian flamenco on solo guitar, some of these gypsy tunes originated in the regions of Aragon and Linares while others reflect Moorish or even Cuban influence; some take on dance forms like the rumba or tango. Montoya performs passionately and persuasively.
