“I am armed with madness for a long voyage...” writes British-born visionary painter, sculptor and writer, Leonora Carrington, most often associated with the Surrealist movement, as well as the one-time lover of Max Ernst, Carrington’s work is arguably not “surreal” in the way her forebears meant, but possessed by a uniquely powerful and utterly personal vision. Carrington rebelled from her upper class background nearly from birth. After being presented at Buckingham Palace, she escaped to London to study art. What followed would transform her iconography forever. This is the only film of Carrington’s life and work produced in the United States covers her entire oeuvre, includes rare personal footage from the 1940s through the 21st Century, and includes a fanciful depiction of her famous 1939 short story, “The Debutante.”

Made in L.A. traces the moving transformation of three Latina garment workers on the fault lines of global economic change who decide they must resist. Through a groundbreaking lawsuit and consumer boycott, they fight to establish an important legal and moral precedent holding an American retailer liable for the labor conditions under which its products are manufactured. But more than this, Made in L.A. provides an insider's view into both the struggles of recent immigrants and into the organizing process itself: the enthusiasm, discouragement, hard-won victories and ultimate self-empowerment.

A film by Oscar nominees Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering, and first reported by The New York Times, On the Record presents the haunting story of former A&R executive Drew Dixon, whose career and personal life were upended by the alleged abuse she faced from her high-profile male bosses. The documentary follows Dixon as she grapples with her decision to become one of the first women of color, in the wake of #MeToo, to come forward to publicly accuse hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons of sexual misconduct. The film chronicles Dixon’s story, as well as those of fellow Simmons accusers Sil Lai Abrams and Sheri Sher, delving into the ways black women’s voices are too often silenced and ignored.

Based on the groundbreaking edition, Reel Women: THE FIRST HUNDRED YEARS, by Ally Acker, JODIE FOSTER takes us on a sweeping journey that looks at the remarkable achievements of female filmmakers from 1896 into the 21st century who transformed the way we look at movies. Using rare footage, and exclusive interviews with filmmakers all over the globe, Reel Herstory corrects the notion that women behind the scenes held adjunct or peripheral careers, and restores them rightfully to their pioneering status.
Reel Herstory: The Real Story of Reel Women is an unforgettable look at pioneering women all crafts behind the scenes who helped shape the history of motion pictures, but whose contributions have been long ignored.
