Banyu Biru explores the idea that what we remember from childhood may not be the way it really happened. Banyu, a supermarket customer service representative, is obsessed with finding out why his father left the family after the accidental death of his little sister Biru. Convinced that his father, a scientist, was an uncaring man who kept his family at a distance while self-absorbed with his work, Banyu is haunted by questions. As a little boy, he turned inside to a world of fantasy and isolation, finally leaving home as a young man. Banyu has not seen his father for ten years and decides to find him and confront him. On Banyu's road trip, he encounters some colorful characters, including his uncle and a young woman who lived next door as a child. They challenge his reality and how he remembers his youth. Ultimately, Banyu must confront his father if he is to make peace with his childhood memories.

Description

A romance buds, jealousy creeps in, and a secret gets revealed that threatens to break the band's musical success as well as their bond. Family dynamics in their homes strain the group as well. Gaia and her mother, who have only each other, find that the secret they share is driving them apart. The other band mates, Aga and Awan, have shared a close friendship since childhood, but it teeters with insecurities despite the sweet sharing of a home with other creative artists. In Garasi, music is an elixir that pushes and pulls.

His life is a clash between a high drama of political events, and the personal world of friendship and romance. He suffers when he sees that his constant battle for justice and truth gives way to another dictatorial regime. As time passes the people around him adjust to the new regime, but he continues to fight. His uncompromised idealism drives people away. His friends leave him; the woman he loves rejects him. Only the beauty of nature can rescue and free him. One key scene shows the infamous Bali massacre that took place between December 1965 and early 1966, where an estimated 80,000 Balinese were killed, roughly 5 percent of the island's population at the time. It serves as a reflection and contrast to the Bali Bombing of 2002. Awards/Festivals: Awarded the Hubert Bals Fund by the Rotterdam International Film Festival for its content and artistic value. A lowly clerk working in the archives section of a big bureaucratic organisation chances upon a suitcase and finds his life completely transformed. From their neighbour, he and his wife soon find out that a man robbed a bank and fled with a suitcase filled with a billion rupiah. Is this the same suitcase that the clerk came upon? Filled with dread, he is torn between paying his debts by taking the money in the suitcase or to sell off his beloved...
A lowly clerk working in the archives section of a big bureaucratic organisation chances upon a suitcase and finds his life completely transformed. From their neighbour, he and his wife soon find out that a man robbed a bank and fled with a suitcase filled with a billion rupiah. Is this the same suitcase that the clerk came upon? Filled with dread, he is torn between paying his debts by taking the money in the suitcase or to sell off his beloved P Ramlee record collection. The Lost Suitcase is a loving, subconscious tribute to legendary Indonesian director, Sjumandjaya, and coincidentally stars the late director's daughter, Djenar Maesa Ayu.
