Radha Horton-Parker and Charles Fawcett discuss important strategies and concepts for working with and caring for older adults. The elderly population is rapidly increasing as the baby boomers reach late adulthood. It behooves all of us to be prepared to assist elderly individuals, as well as their caregivers who may be faced with tremendous stress.
The Sandwich Generation, middle-aged adults who are caring for both their own children and their aging parents, sometimes feel squeezed from both sides and are overwhelmed with responsibilities. To help alleviate this strain, this video shares useful information about the characteristics and needs of older adults and provides practical strategies for working with them.

Among her many claims to glory, Violette Verdy can include that she was a famous actress when only fifteen, becoming Jean-Louis Barrault’s partner for the production of “Malatesta” by Montherlant. An act she topped by becoming star dancer in Roland Petit’s “Le Loup, Dutilleux”. George Balanchine then invited her to join the New York City Ballet in 1958, where she created such ballets as “Tchaikovski Pas de deux”, “Jewels”, “Liebeslieder Walzer” and “Sonatine” among other masterpieces, and where Jerome Robbins created “Dances at a Gathering” and “In the Night” for her… Rolf Liebermann appointed her Dance Director at the Paris Opera (1976), and she then returned to the United States, where she radiantly conveyed the good word, the ‘beautiful gesture’ of her master, Mister B, as he is familiarly and respectfully known in ballet circles. Thirty years later, it is Balanchine’s neo-classic approach (with a foray into Robbins) that is the primal material for my film. Violette Verdy conducts master classes, based on the aforementioned ballets, with top-level dancers so that they can achieve the “Balanchine touch”, the secrets of which she knows firsthand. Like in my earlier films, the sequences of “Memoire pour le XXIème siècle” are mixed with biographical material, along with archival extracts which illustrate the subject.

Bullying is a serious problem in schools and children on the autism spectrum are particularly at risk of being victimized if they display 'different' behavior, such as not understanding rules, having bad handwriting or flapping their hands. Being Bullied describes the various types of peer abuse - taunting, nicknames, damaging property, stealing, and cyber bullying - and the devastating consequences, such as poor self-esteem, low academic achievement, depression, or even suicide. Narrated by Nick Dubin and featuring footage of his own childhood that illustrates behaviors that made him an easy target for bullies, the film also includes the stories of three individuals with Asperger's Syndrome who talk about their experiences of being bullied. The DVD outlines practical strategies for parents, professionals, schools, and individuals being bullied on how to prevent bullying. It stresses the importance of peer intervention, empathetic teachers, and verbal self-defense and shows how lack of teacher support, condemning of 'tale telling,' or even blaming the victim reinforces bullying. This video offers children and young people who are being bullied a chance to see that they are not alone, and will be a valued source of advice for parents and professionals.
