WASH., D.C.--President Truman warns that workers face a twenty billion dollar loss in income unless the present downward spiral in wages and salaries is not checked. He further warns that such a shrinkage would seriously disturb the entire national economy.
AMERICA RECONVERTS
America's huge war industries are hastily reconverting to produce goods for civilian consumption. Radio manufacturers are gearing up to produce thousands of radios daily . . . Electrical appliances pour off of Western production lines . . . In Ohio, thousands of synthetic tires are being turned out, as well as refrigerators . . . while in Detroit, giant presses turn out sections for the flood of cars which is beginning to issue from the Motor Capital, to jammed show rooms all over the country.

WILMINGTON--Very camera shy, 1,462 Japanese prisoners are loaded aboard a transport for return to Japan, via Hawaii. Some of them may be kept in Hawaii to be used in work battalions.
SKI HERO HONORED
BEAR MOUNTAIN--On the ski jump on which he made many of his records. Torger Tokle is honored in a memorial contest by some of the country's outstanding jumpers. Tokle was killed in Italy while leading his mountain troops to the attack.

NEW YORK--The 82nd Airborne arrive, and they're all proud foster pappies to the seven-month-old Glass triplets, whose father is an American GI and mother a British girl. Already they have raised more than $4,000 for the babies.
