COLUMBUS--The Wolverines fight off a determined Buckeye team, absorb an early 3-0 deficit and then go on to score twice through the air, to close the books on a second straight unbeaten season, 13-3.
S.M.U. DEFEATS BAYLOR, 13-6
DALLAS--The Southern Methodist Mustangs beat Baylor with an ace and win a Cotton Bowl bid on a 13-6 decision. Kyle Rote is the ace in the hole that licks the Bears, scoring on two thrilling touchdown romps.
NORTH CAROLINA TOPS DUKE
CHAPEL HILL -- Sparked by Charlie Justice, the Tarheels subdue the Blue Devils, 20-0, in a colorful gridiron clash. Justice scores once on a 43-yard run, and passes to Weiner for a second touchdown.
