Description
President Xi Jinping said that art and literary workers are the engineers of the human soul. What creative works are these “engineers" producing to boost patriotism? How are “little pinks” contributing to the rise of cyber nationalism? And in China’s definition of cyberspace sovereignty, is there any room for dissent? How will China’s renewed push on patriotic education, and “ideology work” help the country “prepare for dangerous storms”?

The year 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the Wang-Koo Meeting between Taiwan and mainland China. In April 1993, the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) held a historic meeting in Singapore. It was the first officially authorized meeting between these civil organizations since 1949. Four agreements were signed during the meeting, which set the stage for the following three decades of cross-strait relations. Our crew traveled to Taiwan, mainland China, and Singapore to shoot on-site footage commemorating this significant historical moment. They interviewed participants, witnesses, and individuals with firsthand knowledge of the events. Through its oral accounts and archival footage, the documentary presents the entire process of preparation and conduct of the Wang-Koo Meeting, shedding light on commonly overlooked historical details of cross-strait exchanges.

UNIVERSAL NEWSPAPER NEWSREEL VOLUME V NUMBER 127
PRESIDENT ASKS NATION FOR FULL CONFIDENCE IN HIS RECOVERY PLAN
WASHINGTON, D. C.--In a stirring personal appeal to the rank and file of American citizens, the new Chief Executive gives a clear and simple explanation of the hectic financial events of the day, telling the reasons for the bank holiday and the currency legislation in plain and straight forward language, and calling for continued trust and support by the people in his battle to restore the soundness of the country's money and banking system.

WILLIAM GREEN CALLS UNION MEN TO SUPPORT OF ROOSEVELT IN CRISIS
NEW YORK, N. Y.--The head of the great American Federation of Labor, in a forceful message to the workers of the nation, strongly urges all to have complete faith in the President of the United States and to give their wholehearted co-operation and backing to the Administration's plans for the country's financial and economic recovery.
120 DEAD, 5000 HURT AS 'QUAKE WRECKS WEST COAST CITIES
LONG BEACH, Cal.--Appalling scenes of the holocaust which laid low a score of flourishing Pacific Coast communities, killing or maiming thousands, demolishing entire towns and rolling up property damages of almost $50,000,000.
The worst cataclysm on American soil in almost 30 years, the earthquake consisted of recurring shocks over a period of two days, with many violent tremors which shattered buildings and homes, turning peaceful and progressive business and residence districts into piles of debris under which many hapless victims lay entombed. Indescribable scenes of tragedy and confusion are on every hand.
Hundreds of thousands are homeless, many of them with nothing remaining of their domiciles but piles of brick or splintered wood. Many others, fearful of their rocking, swaying residences, are living a nomadic life in the open, depending upon relief agencies for food and covering.
Amazing efficiency by the local agencies and by the State and Federal Governments prevents greater loss of life and greater misery and suffering from exposure. While sailors from the U. S. fleet and various veteran organizations police the stricken area, Army and National Guard units set up emergency kitchens and supply food and blankets to the refugees.
Even while the tremors still continue, reconstruction begins with a vim, dangerous walls being pulled down and debris cleaned from the streets.
One of the worst tragedies in American history, with never-to-be-forgotten vistas of wreckage and demolition.
