Another issue in the pursuit for democracy is the violent conflict between Buddhists and a Muslim minority called the Rohingya. Cem decides to find out what makes young Muslims so fanatical about religion, even when the western countries provide both education and the promise of a future. Cem's investigation confronts him with his own reflection: a young guy with the same background, Abdul Kadir, who serves a long term sentence for planning a terror act in Bosnia.
Cem sets out on a journey to meet the imprisoned Kadir – and a journey inside himself to investigate why two very similar boys have opted for such different directions in life. To Cem's astonishment he learns that it is simply a coincidence.

Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye – former militia leaders turned peace-makers from Nigeria – were invited to mediate in the worst-affected district. An African Answer depicts their dramatic bid to bring healing and reconciliation after death and destruction.
The film depicts the dynamics of an effective, African approach to conflict resolution between rival ethnic groups. It demonstrates that durable, peaceful coexistence between communities formerly in conflict is feasible in Kenya and beyond.
Above all, the film gives hope that grassroots communities can reject violence and rebuild peace and prosperity.
