CASTRO CAPTIVES ARRIVE IN UNITED STATES:
The return of the captives. At Homestead Air Force Base near Miami, the first of the prisoners ransomed from Castro walk down the short gangway to freedom. Five thousand relatives and friends greet the men in tearful reunions and they go to their families for private celebrations after prayers of thanks.
WALKOUT CLOSES EAST COAST PORTS:
Shipping ports from Maine to Texas are paralyzed as 75,000 dock workers leave their jobs. In New York, already hit by a newspaper strike, scores of ships are tied up and goods accumulate at the piers.
