JAP PEACE MISSION ARRIVES
Two strange looking Jap air transports land at Ie Shima, bearing the Jap surrender mission on their way to Manila to learn Gen. MacArthur's terms. Giant U.S. "C-54" air transports whisk them to Manila, where Gen. MacArthur has previously spoken, telling his troops it's over, and he trusts they can return to the U.S.A. before long.
HALSEY CELEBRATES
After British fleet units add their weight to Admiral Halsey's Third Pacific Fleet, news of the Jap surrender is received. Admiral Halsey entertains Sir Admiral Rawlings and staff aboard the U.S.S. Missouri. Following a round of toasts, "Bull" Halsey serves up a Japanese cake with plenty of gestures and pantomime, that are his and his alone.
AMERICA RECONVERTS
With war plants shutting down, thousands of war workers are shifted to peacetime industrial jobs as industry gears up to satisfy the pent up demands for a flood of domestic products. Automatic wash machines roll out of plants, while Detroit rushes new cars down the assembly line.
RED CROSS MUNITION SHIP
When a Jap hospital ship is searched in the South Pacific, it is found to be filled with munitions and able-bodied Japs.
NAVY DISCHARGES
LONG BEACH, N.Y.--The U.S. Navy discharges its first (illegible text) who are eligible under the newly adopted point system.
DE GAULLE ARRIVES
WASHINGTON, D.C.--Gen. Charles de Gaulle. French Leader, meets President Truman to inaugurate official conversations.
DIAPER SERVICE DERBY
PALISADES PARK, N.J. -- Creeping cuties clad in diapers cut fancy capers as they clamber down the race course in annual diaper service derby.

JAP SURRENDER PARTY IN P.I.
When the Jap surrender commission arrives in the Philippine Islands, their leader, General Kawabe, salutes the Americans and almost succeeds in shaking the hand of Colonel Mashbir.
General Chas. Willoughby leads them to waiting cars and they are rushed to Manila for the meetings in the City Hall.
After their arms are piled, they file into the conference room where Gen. Sutherland--Gen. MacArthur's Chief of Staff--presides at the information-extracting meetings.
DE GAULLE STARTS TOUR
Leaving Washington, General Charles De Gaulle stops at Annapolis to review the marching midshipmen. At Hyde Park, Mrs. Roosevelt escorts him to Franklin Roosevelt's grave where in quiet ceremony he places a wreath.
THE ULITHI ANCHORAGE
400 miles south-west of Guam, this 112 square mile lagoon (capable of holding 1,000 ships) is used as an anchorage by the U. S. Navy. Air shots show only a portion of the tremendous fleet with which Uncle Sam has subdued the Japs.
B-25 FIGHTS POLIO
ROSEWOOD, ILL. -- A B-25 bomber sprays D.D.T. over this "danger area," to prevent the growth of an infantile paralysis epidemic.

DEMOBILIZATION PLANS
WASHINGTON--General Eisenhower, Chief of Staff, tells the country that no eligible veteran will be kept in uniform a moment longer than necessary. Any man who had a right to expect discharge by June 30 will be home or on his way, the general says.
ADM. KIMMEL TESTIFIES
WASHINGTON -- The admiral who was relieved of his command following the Pearl Harbor disaster, tells the senate committee that he failed to receive information that would have put the navy on a complete war alert.

NEW YORK--One hundred and forty of the East's fastest skaters flash around the track at Madison Square Garden in the 22nd Annual Silver Skates finals. Some spectacular spills enliven the hot competition.

MIAMI--A resplendent marine pageant opens the $10,000 fishing contest--an annual affair. If the fish bite as well as the anglers go after those prizes it will really be something. But the gaily decorated boats are the real highlight of the event.
