"I hope that I will be remembered as someone who prevented civil war- this, for me, is more important than having been the supreme commander of the underground movement, Prime Minister, the peace treaty with Egypt.” Today, when public image outweighs ideology, Menahem Begin's integrity, modest life style and commitment to principles, stand out. He was defeated in 8 election campaigns, after he offered an ideological alternative to the ruling Labor Party, yet he achieved the impossible and won the elections of '77. He started out with the historic peace agreement with Egypt, and ended with the quagmire of the Lebanese war, withdrawn into the confinement of his home.

A fight broke out in Mishimishimabowei-teri on the second day of Chagnon and Asch's stay in this village in 1971. The conflict developed between the villagers of Mishimishimabowei-teri and their visitors from another village. The visitors had formerly been part of Mishimishimabowei-teri, and many still had ties with members of that village. They refused to work in their hosts' gardens, yet they demanded to be fed. The event lasted about half an hour, ten minutes of which were filmed. The film is constructed of four parts. The first consists of an unedited version of what the cameraman saw and the sound technician recorded. The apparent chaos of these first ten minutes is clarified in the second section, in which Chagnon explains the sequence of actions, the relationships between the actors, and how the filmmakers' interpretation of the events became coherent. The third section diagrams the lineages in the villages involved to illustrate the fight's relationship to long-standing patterns of conflict and alliance within the village. Finally, in an edited version of the fight, we see how the editors' hands shape the "reality" we view. The Ax Fight thus operates on several levels. It plunges the viewer into the problems of Yanomamo kinship, alliance, and village fission; of violence and conflict resolution. At the same time it raises questions about how anthropologists and filmmakers translate their experience into meaningful words and coherent, moving images.

This documentary will draw a balanced and well-documented assessment of Barack Obama's first term. If his election will clearly go down in history, his first term has been a very tough one! This film will be an epic tale of Barack Obama's White House battles. Since taking office, Obama has had to confront economic crisis as well as an opposition determined to discredit him and destroy his agenda. Obama has been forced to adapt his governing style, and to rein in his ambitions for change. These four years crystallize the very nature of the political machine in representative democracy. What happens when the best speeches and best of intentions meet up with the unforgiving reality of economic recession and relentless political opposition? The film will take us behind the scenes of those battles using interviews with Barack Obama's main advisors and leading political analysts led by James Traub, political journalist for the New York Times Magazine. The exclusive footage of the White House and the Obama administration from NBC News Archives will not simply be historic banners but will allow us to walk the halls of the White House, backstage with the President of the USA, capturing the man, his solitude under pressure and his ease at combat.
