EXTRA! Killer Misses Roosevelt--Cermak Shot
MIAMI, Fla. -- Assassin fires five shots in attempt on life of the President-elect at conclusion of welcome ceremonies in sea-side park. Mayor Anton J. Cermak of Chicago critically wounded as bullets aimed at the next Chief Executive go wild, cutting a swath among by-standers. Two women are among those hit, one of whom is near death. Hectic scenes mark the infamous shooting, the arrest of Giuseppe Zangara, the anarchist mad-man, and the hurried efforts to succor the victims. Unscathed, the future President heads the first-aid and emergency measures in rushing his close friend and supporter, Cermak and the others to a near-by hospital. Zangara, quizzed by an iron ring, maintains his defiance and gloats over his deed.

GEN. MARSHALL IN CHINA
SHANGHAI--President Truman's special envoy arrives to undertake his mission of bringing peace to warring China. He is welcomed by General Wedemeyer and high-ranking Chinese officials. He will act as arbiter between the National government and the Communists.
HOUSING SPEED-UP
WASHINGTON--Wilson Wyatt, appointed housing expediter by President Truman, says GI's are demanding action on this problem and they are going to get it.
SOCIABILITY IN JAPAN
Yank occupation troops undertake serious research into Japanese customs, under the guidance of Nippon's fair maids. There are tougher ways of learning the language.
THRILLS IN VIENNA
VIENNA--Occupation-weary GI's get a break. They witness the first motorcycle race held in the Austrian capital in the last seven years. Riders from Hungary, England and Austria put on quite a show.
JAP PRISONERS LEAVE U.S.
WILMINGTON--Very camera shy, 1,462 Japanese prisoners are loaded aboard a transport for return to Japan, via Hawaii. Some of them may be kept in Hawaii to be used in work battalions.
SKI HERO HONORED
BEAR MOUNTAIN--On the ski jump on which he made many of his records. Torger Tokle is honored in a memorial contest by some of the country's outstanding jumpers. Tokle was killed in Italy while leading his mountain troops to the attack.
FAST COUNT FOR JOE
ATLANTA--Up pops Sergeant Patterson with a gimmick that has three dials and tells you how long you've been in, faster than you can say discharge. They're so popular that 150 are being made. (Exclusive)
FIGHTING TIGERS BACK
TACOMA--The 23rd Fighter Group, which includes the famed Flying Tigers, arrives after hunting Japs all over Asia's skies. An eight-year-old Chinese boy, their mascot, is aboard, officially a slowaway. It's just possible the Tigers know more than they tell. (Exclusive)
PARATROOP TRIPLETS
NEW YORK--The 82nd Airborne arrive, and they're all proud foster pappies to the seven-month-old Glass triplets, whose father is an American GI and mother a British girl. Already they have raised more than $4,000 for the babies.

ADVANCE INFORMATION FOR NEWSPAPER PUBLICITY AND EXPLOITATION
SPANISH DEMONSTRATION
MADRID--More than half a million Spaniards assemble in public squares to demonstrate in behalf of their government and to support the Franco regime, which has been ostracized by United Nations action.
CLOTHING FOR ABORIGINALS
FORMOSA--Trucks loaded with UNRRA clothing set out for isolated native villages in the remote hinterland of this island, to help clothe thousands of semi-civilized aboriginals whom the Japs could never subjugate.
TRANSPORT A LA KING
ENGLAND--Special trains for a royal tour of South Africa, and a new limousine for the royal family, provide transportation a la king. The new coaches and new auto are the last word in British craftsmanship.
REBELLION OF RAGPICKERS
PARIS--"Trumps," the city's nocturnal ragpickers who go through the streets at night collecting old rags and paper for scrap salvage, win victory over local ordnance banning their trade. So, it's back to work!
TUNA FISHING IN SPAIN
ALICANTE--The catch is a record one--and the sea yields a net crop! By the netful, Spanish fishermen haul in the big ones, and it's plenty of work as you'll see in these colorful films.
UTAH BASKETEERS WIN
NEW YORK--In a spectacular basketball razzle-dazzle at the Garden, the Blitz Kids of Utah keep in season form by administering a 62-48 defeat to the St. John's Five. Somebody wins--and somebody loses.
