If you ask what snow boarding means to manias and otakus, they would say, 'Freedom'. This word could be abstract and old-fashioned. However, if we narrow down the range of the meaning, it could be 'the freedom from suffocating daily life', which is 'the exit'. From this documentary I'd like to show why snow boarders are dreaming of the escape from their daily lives
and how snow boarding provides freedom. There is certainly something about snow boarding that attracts snow boarders. You cannot express it by words but it could be like drugs. I thought approaching from the visual aspect of snow boarding is the only way to show 'the something' to audience. They would see the attractiveness of snow boarding which seems tough but soft and
sensitive at the end of this film by experiencing snow boarding visually. There are lots of manias for snow boarding in Korea. I classify a certain snow boarders into one group called 'Otaku'. From this group, I select six people who have stronger personalities than the rest. And by following them, interviewing them, and filming their daily lives and patterns, I explain what snow boarding means to them.
