OFF THE VIRGINIA CAPES -- The condemned Shipping Board vessel, Mount Shasta, cut adrift in the sea, proves a tough target for the "expert eyes" of the bombers from Langley Field, who miss the mark by as much as 1,000 feet. Carrabasset steam toward the doomed ship and first set it afire. This done, shells directed by eyes attuned to watery wastes soon find vital spots and the Mount Shasta, much to the chagrin of the Army, dives toward the bottom of the ocean.

As President Kennedy's envoy, Mr. Johnson declares that freedom can prevail and peace endure. He has a statement for East Berliners as he addressed 300,000 at City Hall: "the days of tyranny are numbered." Later, 1,500 American troops arrive in the beleaguered city after passing through East Germany without incident. They receive a huge welcome from the grateful city.
