She founded an alternative education system and opened a theatre group for Palestinian children where her son, Juliano Mer Khamis, was a director. The theater group struggled to continue after Arna died in 1995 and ultimately did not survive. Five years after Arna’s death, Juliano returns to the camp to discover what happened to Arna’s children. Mer Khamis’s film juxtaposes the sweet-faced young boys with the militants and martyrs they become. Lynn is a lifestyle reporter interviewing Leo, a jock turned entrepreneur. Their interview turns into a date as Leo's flirting turns to romancing. Both have been scarred by previous relationships and one night reveal their stories after an intimate dinner at Lynn's home. The intimacy seems a welcoming comfort to both, but an all-too-familiar scenario develops. Many will recognize the path, because they have walked it before, a little romance turns into a desire for attachment. And that's where the fork in the road usually shows up. Will they take one of the forks together, or separate at the fork? What sustains this little drama are the actors and their smart dialogue. We are voyeurs, asking if they would make a good match, wondering what the next move will be.

Since the woman he loved rejected him, he has lived in the western desert, hiring skilled swordsmen to carry out contract killings. His wounded heart has made him pitiless and cynical, but his encounters with friends, clients and future enemies make him conscious of his solitude... The film is set in five parts, five seasons that are part of the Chinese almanac. The story takes place in the jianghu, the world of the martial arts. Ouyang Feng (Leslie Cheung) has lived in the western desert for some years. He left his home in White Camel Mountain when the woman he loved chose to marry his elder brother rather than him. Instead of seeking glory, he ends up as an agent. When people come to him with a wish to eliminate someone who has wronged them, he puts them in touch with a swordsman who can do the job.

By carefully preserving the regional dialect and customs in his prose, poet and playwright Salvatore Di Giacomo captured the unique essence of Napolitanita: the ability of the Italian working class to maintain their dignity even as they struggle for survival. In harmony with this approach, Assunta Spina was shot largely on location, capturing precious glimpses of life on the streets of Naples, and presaging the rise of Italian Neorealism.
