Kathryn Morgan’s performances have a unique quality of self-reflection and dramatic artistry. Such qualities are evident even in this compact, hour-long class. Given the many exercises during the 36' barre that analyze the working of parts of the foot, including the toes, this class is great on its own or for prepping for pointe. Throughout, Kathryn speaks about the various purposes of the exercises in terms of their effect on specific muscles important to classical choreography for women or their value to a woman's role in partnering or how the steps anticipate the performance of multiple fouettés. Everything about it is engaging and perfectly catered to the users at home.
This intermediate class runs approximately an hour long.

Sharon Milanese teaches a professional level ballet class that is both technical and musical, while creating an environment where the dancer can remember the freedom of moving in space. Sharon emphasizes a strong sense of core, breath, and energy efficiency inspiring the dancers to move big and explore the space around them. The barre sets the dancer up technically and mentally to be grounded, and free in the joints and mind. Individual corrections are given to encourage each dancer's unique voice. Center combinations emphasize moving three dimensionally, discovering new ideas, rediscovering old ones, and not taking ourselves too seriously.

Discover why the modern dance technique of Lester Horton is a classic technique uniquely suited for training the contemporary dancer. Through its study, strength, flexibility, and a balanced body can be attained without imprinting the dancer with a discernable style. We will be examining the fundamentals of this exciting technique, exploring elements of the studies and fortifications and incorporating them into choreographic phrases both in the center and across the floor. Musicality will also be a primary focus as we work in tandem with our class accompanist. No previous experience with the Horton technique is required.

Using our relationship to gravity as a departure point, we will explore different ways to allow breath, weight, use of opposition, fall and recovery, isolation, and succession to enrich movement. Consciousness and application of these principles will allow us to access specific qualitative shifts in the body. We will explore how the manner in which we use the Humphrey/Limón principles constantly shifts the relationship between time, space, and energy. We will also delve into the intrinsic physical metaphors that are born from the motivations inherent in this humanistic technique. To explore the concepts I will use a fusion of material from the repertory of José Limón and contemporary material of my own creation. The class will consist of phrase work in the center and locomotion through the space that includes explorations on the floor, standing, and air-born moments.
