THE ATOMIC BOMB
U. S. scientists, in collaboration with European savants, produce the atomic bomb, the most destructive weapon in the history of the world. It dwarfs Great Britain's "Grand Slam" bomb, and equals the bomb load carried by 2,000 B-29's.
As Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japanese port cities, feel the full destructive force of the lethal weapon, some of the startling details of its production are revealed. Two giant properties were created for its completion--a 600,000 acre project at Richland, Wash., and a gigantic manufacturing area at Oak Park, Tenn., which has boomed into the 6th largest city in that state.
Leading personalities in the amazing production include, Dr. E. O. Lawrence, inventor of the atom smashing cyclotron; Col. Mathias, Commander of the Richland, Wash., project; Gen. Groves, in charge of the entire program; and the two scientists, Dr. Vannevar Bush and Dr. Richard Tolman. Quantities of uranium, shipped from Alberta, Canada, are used in the secret bomb because of the mineral's atomic structure.

JAPAN SURRENDERS
Japan goes down to crushing defeat, her dream of Empire and of world conquest completely shattered to bits.
America, her fleet badly crippled at Pearl Harbor, quickly geared her efforts to wage a war of offence in Europe, and a defensive leap-frog campaign in the vast Pacific.
Brilliant sea victories at Coral Sea and Bismarck Sea stalled the "Tokio Express" headed for a conquest of Australia. The victory at Midway saved Hawaii and other U. S. defence zones. After Bataan, a succession of island victories begins--Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Tarawa, Kwajalein, Saipan, Guam, the Philippines, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Spectacular Kamikaze suicide defences are futile.
Allied air fleets, co-ordinating with the other two military arms, begin strategic bombing of the Jap homeland, which starts the Japs reeling. Allied naval fleets boldly steam off Japan's coastline; their carrier planes and naval guns create utter ruin and destruction.
From the Potsdam Conference, Japan is told to surrender, or else. The "or else" proves to be America's prize secret weapon--the Atomic Bomb which levels war plant areas and kills thousands. Russia declares war and invades Manchuria. The combination of events proves too much for the enemy. Japan sues for peace.

RADAR
(War's end permits release of one of the top drawer secrets of modern times)
Radar is demonstrated to be a means of detecting invisible objects by means of electronic-echo waves being repelled by an alien object.
Coastal and base defences were able to detect the approach of aircraft and to differentiate enemy from friendly planes. Bombers and scout planes could trace earth patterns electrically by means of radar, and carry out their missions accordingly. At mission's end they could land in 'ceiling zero weather' by radar co-operation from control towers. Warships on convoy duty, distinguished enemy craft from Allied, thru the medium of radar.
All in all, radar became a sixth sense for our armed forces, enabling them to reach over horizons, through any atmospheric condition, and uncover the enemy in his concealed position. The technique of its operation is explained thoroughly in our chart and pictorial presentation.

JAP PEACE MISSION ARRIVES
Two strange looking Jap air transports land at Ie Shima, bearing the Jap surrender mission on their way to Manila to learn Gen. MacArthur's terms. Giant U.S. "C-54" air transports whisk them to Manila, where Gen. MacArthur has previously spoken, telling his troops it's over, and he trusts they can return to the U.S.A. before long.
HALSEY CELEBRATES
After British fleet units add their weight to Admiral Halsey's Third Pacific Fleet, news of the Jap surrender is received. Admiral Halsey entertains Sir Admiral Rawlings and staff aboard the U.S.S. Missouri. Following a round of toasts, "Bull" Halsey serves up a Japanese cake with plenty of gestures and pantomime, that are his and his alone.
AMERICA RECONVERTS
With war plants shutting down, thousands of war workers are shifted to peacetime industrial jobs as industry gears up to satisfy the pent up demands for a flood of domestic products. Automatic wash machines roll out of plants, while Detroit rushes new cars down the assembly line.
RED CROSS MUNITION SHIP
When a Jap hospital ship is searched in the South Pacific, it is found to be filled with munitions and able-bodied Japs.
NAVY DISCHARGES
LONG BEACH, N.Y.--The U.S. Navy discharges its first (illegible text) who are eligible under the newly adopted point system.
DE GAULLE ARRIVES
WASHINGTON, D.C.--Gen. Charles de Gaulle. French Leader, meets President Truman to inaugurate official conversations.
DIAPER SERVICE DERBY
PALISADES PARK, N.J. -- Creeping cuties clad in diapers cut fancy capers as they clamber down the race course in annual diaper service derby.
