American industry and scientists developed the miniature electronic device to be fitted into shells, bombs and rockets. TEARING WITH DEMONIAC FORCE through six States, tornadoes cut a wide swath of destruction, killing untold hundreds of persons and piling up an awesome toll in injuries to others. Homes and public buildings are battered and demolished, roofs being carried great distances by the destroying wind. Whole cities are plunged into darkness as power lines fail and widespread fires rage unchecked. Greensboro, N. C., the first to suffer, sustains heavy losses. Most of Tupelo, Miss., is in ruins. A vicious new storm sweeps down on Gainesville, Ga., causing tremendous loss of life and property damage.
BRUNO GOES TO CHAIR IN SILENCE
TRENTON, N. J.--Hauptmann is electrocuted for the murder of the Lindbergh baby as a new reprieve is refused. Throngs mill about the prison and witnesses are carefully searched before they enter the grim building. Following the execution, the broken widow flees from the city. Later, a hearse bearing the body tears through the prison gates to escape newspapermen and public.

WASH., D.C.--President Truman warns that workers face a twenty billion dollar loss in income unless the present downward spiral in wages and salaries is not checked. He further warns that such a shrinkage would seriously disturb the entire national economy.

America's huge war industries are hastily reconverting to produce goods for civilian consumption. Radio manufacturers are gearing up to produce thousands of radios daily . . . The largest calibre mortar ever built, the "Little David" is capable of hurling a two-ton explosive eight miles with suprising accuracy. Designed for the Jap invasion it was perfected too late for use in combat.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, COLO.--Enough turkeys to grace tens of thousands of holiday tables are rounded up for Thanksgiving. More than forty thousand of them take their last gobble and their last strut. Boy, the cranberry sauce.
