Bitter Circus
performed by William Brooks (William Brooks, 2004), 46 mins
The most distinctive William Brooks album yet, Bitter Circus is solidly rocked out by this troubador and his band. There's a blusey drive here that reminds us of Bonnie Raitt's style of playing?a quality gets pushed further by Aaron Stroessner's (Dead Left) great guitar playing as well as piano from Peter Adams...

Blue Ribbon - The Best of William Brooks
performed by William Brooks (William Brooks, 2006), 51 mins

Tom Paul is back with a new CD offering entitled "Borrowed Time". Tom wrote and recorded these songs about his experiences with substance abuse, addiction and recovery. Those familiar with the world of recovery will recognize the themes of surrender, open mindedness, honesty, total abstinence, and a higher power. Listeners who are "earth people" will gain some insight into what the addict or alcoholic faces as he works to get and stay sober. Everyone will find themselves humming these tunes after a couple of listens. This album may be more of a true rock record than his previous pop/rock efforts.
Tom's musicianship and vocals have continued to mature since his last release "There is no map" in 2003. The years 2004 to 2008 were dark times for Tom and he is back now stronger for the experience. This CD, like his previous works, is a celebration of life made more poignant by facing down his own demise. Tom was told early on that to write great songs you just need a few words and the truth. This album gives us an open and honest look at his experiences.
