UNIVERSAL NEWSPAPER NEWSREEL VOLUME IV NUMBER 22
GOVERNMENT PARTY IN SWEEPING VICTORY AT SPECIAL ELECTION
(85)
YOKOHAMA, Japan -- The most critical balloting since the granting of suffrage vindicates the course of the Seiyukai party as 13,000,000 votes are cast giving the majority of Diet seats to the government of Premier Suyoshi Inukai which advocates a strong forceful foreign policy and an embargo on gold. Minsei To, favoring the course of peace and leaning to America in world relations, is swamped under a deluge of sentiment at the polls. Hilarious demonstrations in the streets of this melting pot of the Empire greet the news of the powerful party's success.
NATION MOURNS AS NOTED BANDMASTER GOES TO FINAL REST
(83)
WASHINGTON, D. C. -- With full honors of a military funeral the remains of John Philip Sousa, famous march king, are borne to the Congressional Cemetery where the colorful service ceremony is accorded him in the last rites at his tomb. The beloved master is accompanied by dignitaries of the Army, Navy and Marine Corps, paying homage to the gifted composer and conductor who succumbed suddenly to a heart attack.
RIOTERS SCATTERED BY COPS IN ANTI-FORD RED DEMONSTRATION
(98)
NEW YORK, N. Y. -- Bearing placards accusing the billionaire of sinister crimes, several hundred Communists invade Broadway for a mobilized attack on the auto-manufacturer's show room. Boisterously belligerent, the protestors are welcomed by a reception committee of blue-coats armed with convincing night sticks. The first assault proves too much for the minions of the law, and reinforcements from nearby precincts arrive, to rout the reds in all directions.

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Hospital raises deserted cub! -- Prompt measures save life of 5-day-old lion waif.

WAGE EPIC FIGHT TO OVERCOME PERIL OF SNOW-LOCKED ROADS
(88)
SILVERTON, Colo. -- Cut off from the world by a record snow-fall, citizens of this community suspend all mining operations and concentrate on penetrating the tremendous drifts to obtain food and fuel. Battling across the vast wastes, ever in danger of being annihilated by mountainous avalanches as the piles break away and slide into the San Juan basin, supplies finally reach the stricken town in time to stave off starvation, after six weeks of isolation.
NEW ATTACK INFLICTS HEAVY CASUALTIES ON EVE OF TRUCE PARLEY
(246)
SHANGHAI, China -- As the League of Nations strives to bring about a peaceful termination of hostilities along the eastern front, Chapei and Kiangwan are shelled and fired again, leaving the native communities scenes of horror and desolation. Chinese military commanders reorganize the 19th Route Army just beyond the International Settlement boundary and prepare to withstand the renewed "push" by invading troops. Mobilizing their strength on land, sea, and air, the Japanese forces sweep everything before them. Dead litter the streets as refugees flee from the battle zone to the protection of the foreign flags. Vivid pictures of the vicious machinery of an oriental Mars in action.
