The first page contains a partial quote from the play: [There is nothing either good or bad] 'But thinking makes it so.' Several pages contain a partial manuscript of the Hamlet analysis; some have one or two lines of related notes and two pages are blank. Number references, generally in the 500s, seem not to be to lines in the play, but may refer to pages in an unspecified work. One page, the third, is a library call slip for 'Die Anthropophagie' (Cannibalism) by German geographer and ethnologist Richard Andree.
