This report was prepared by Marta Ezcurra, the Head of the Social Services Section and Social and Labor Issues Division of the Pan American Union in response to a resolution adopted at the 1949 Special Assembly of the Inter-American Commission of Women (Comisión Interamericana de Mujeres (CIM)) to study the limits and possibilities of protective legislation on women’s work. This report was prepared by Marta Ezcurra, the Head of the Social Services Section and Social and Labor Issues Division of the Pan American Union in response to a resolution adopted at the 1949 Special Assembly of the Inter-American Commission of Women (Comisión Interamericana de Mujeres (CIM)) to study the limits and possibilities of protective legislation on women’s work. This document compiled studies of women’s employment by the Women’s Bureau of the United States in 1928, by the Royal Commission on Equal Pay in Great Britain from 1944 to 1946, and by the International Labor Organization presented to its international conference in Geneva in 1950.
