The shelter is made from branches that are bent into arcs to form a framework that is covered with leaves, and some mats or sheets have been placed on the roof for extra covering. Woven baskets lie on the ground in the right of the frame. The woman on the left, Ga, has leprosy and has already lost her fingers and toes. Louis states that at this time leprosy was a problem among the BayAka, but could be treated with medicine taken over a period of six to twelve months.
