The Texas Supply Route | The U.S. Civil War Out West |
Sara Gibney
Texas was a major supply avenue for the Confederate army. The Northern blockade of this supply route stopped the exportation of the cotton produced by the South. The best thought way to severe all routes between Texas and the South was by taking control of the Red River in Louisiana; however, doing so produced many health, logistical, and environmental hazards. As the Union General Banks took his men into the woods, away from the protection of the gunboats on the river, only to be attacked by the waiting Confederates. The Union forces were forced back in chaos, losing many men and much of their supplies.

One of the main reasons Darwin's theory of evolution clashed so strongly with conventional Western thought is because it undermines a core tenant of Christianity: that man is created in God's image. If we evolve from animals, that tenant is debunked.

Kathleen Saylor, Alexander Street Press
The Egyptian boy king Tutankhamun ruled from 1333 B.C to 1324 B.C until his death at the age of only 18. The fascination with Tutankahmun stems from the nearly undisturbed state of his tomb at the time of its discovery in 1922.
