This documentary on gang rape and acquaintance rape is a compelling view of what is happening on college campuses. According to the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, up to 80% of all rapes are acquaintance rapes, yet victims of rapes by strangers are ten times more likely to report their attack to police. Dating Rites includes an interview with gang-rape survivor Meg Davis, who tells how the attack still affects her life, even eight years later. We also hear from a convicted rapist, who gives compelling and disturbing insights into the psyche of the perpetrator. Included in the program is an eight minute re-enactment illustrating how a gang rape develops. The viewer will see, through the perspective of both men and women, how a party can turn into a tragedy. The documentary also calls upon professionals: rape crisis counselors, psychologists, and sociologists. Dr. Peter Germano, who runs a sexual treatment group at the state correctional institute, declares: "the college student who commits rape on campus, if not caught, will more than likely continue this behavior and rape again and again." The crimes addressed in this video involving victims include sexual assault, drunk driving, homicide, human trafficking, and mass casualty crimes. Specific victim populations addressed include older victims, children, victims who have a disability, and immigrants. Individuals speak who have a firsthand perspective on the impact of crime. Law enforcement officers also speak; officers who know that providing a greater level of first response services to victims helps build trust, better relationships with the community, stronger cases, and helps victims begin the process of rebuilding their lives. Law enforcement officers, as first responders, are in a unique position to help victims cope with the trauma of a crime. This video, produced by the National Sheriffs’ Association and funded by the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), provides a unique look at the individual impact of crime on victims and the steps that law enforcement can take to best meet the victims’ needs.

Holy Water-Gate explores the lengths to which sexual abuse has been systematically obscured throughout the nation. It presents startling testimony from an admitted priest perpetrator, church officials and victims, as well as the story of Father John Bambrick who was himself molested by a priest as an adolescent and continues to seek justice for fellow victims. The victims, victims' advocates, priests and reporters who tried to reveal the situation to public view were repeatedly blocked and/or harassed by the perpetrators themselves and by church officials. In particular the film examines abuse that was occurring in several areas around the country, including Rhode Island, Illinois, Wisconsin, New Jersey and New York and the methods and mechanisms used to conceal this wide-spread abuse. In chilling testimony, an admitted perpetrator priest, Father William C., recounts his abuse of two children who reported their abuse to the police. The report "disappeared", and no criminal charges were made. The Church sent him for six months' of therapy and later reassigned him to six different parishes. When stories about the sexual abuse began appearing in the Boston Globe, the New York Times and many other newspapers, many victims came forward with their stories and sued the Church. It is clear that the Church put the protection of priests ahead of the protection of children compounding the problem for thousands of Catholic families and individual victims. College Adult

When a sexual predator is released from jail, his accusers often worry that they may now be at risk, or that he will return to their community, placing others in danger. In the situation presented in this compelling film, it is the convicted criminal who is being stalked and hounded by his former victims. Bobby Oatway was sent to prison for ten years for having sexually molested his children and other family members. When learning of his release to a halfway house in a distant community, his former sistersin-law began a media campaign to identify him as a sexual predator. This was taken up by a local politician, who organized rallies to protest and picket the group home around the clock. The endless chanting was nerve wracking. Oatway's fellow residents turned against him after learning that he is a pedophile. He felt physically threatened by them and by the protestors. His parole officers, seeking a solution, set him up with an escort every time he went out. This surveillance made Oatway feel as though he was still in jail. He and the parole officers feared that he might 'snap.' In the end Oatway requested to be returned to prison.
The film raises the question of whose rights are to be upheld criminal, the victims, or the community?

Rape is unlike any other crime. Often there are only two people present and if one person says it was rape and the other says it was consensual, it’s one person’s word against another. The police need to investigate the truth of the victim’s account and sometimes they decide an allegation is false. But even if the police believe there has been a crime, there needs to be sufficient evidence to present the case to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration. Intimate in style, this observational documentary follows several women as they deal with the aftermath of an alleged rape. Compelling testimony from victims, medical staff, the Police and members of the legal profession support the actuality of victims’ journeys as they seek justice or attempt to move forward with their lives

In small - town Steubenville Ohio, at a pre - season football party, a horrible incident took place that would garner national attention and result in the sentencing of two key offenders. Amateur crime blogger Alex Goddard uncovers disturbing evidence online, documenting the assault of a teenage girl by members of the high school football team. Explores the complex motivations of both perpetrators and bystanders in this story, to unearth the attitudes at the core of their behaviour. The Steubenville story acts as a cautionary tale of what can happen when adults look the other way and deny that rape culture exists. With unprecedented access to police documents, exhibits and evidence, this documentary feature unflinchingly asks: "Why didn't anyone stop it?"
