After 54 years in dance, Erick Hawkins is an acknowledged master of modern dance. Alan Kriegsman of the Washington Post has called him “one of the genuinely great pioneers of American dance.” In this piece, Mr. Hawkins at the age of 83 speaks of his career, his life, and his collaborations with the composer Lucia Dlugoszewski.
